Leading Blower Manufacturer Announces New Blower Model

Dallas, TX – Republic Blower Systems, leaders in centrifugal blower and air knife system manufacturing, has announced that they have added the new RB4000 Centrifugal Blower to their already diverse line of products.

“We found many of our customers had applications that were just barely outside of our previous capabilities,” says Zach Goff, President and CEO of Republic Blower Systems. “The RB4000 allows us to provide energy efficient solutions for such applications.”

With the ability to reach higher pressure utilizing lower horsepower, centrifugal blowers offer an energy efficient solution to drying versus compress air. In fact, centrifugal blowers run so efficiently that, when replacing compressed air, they often pay for themselves in just a matter of weeks. Centrifugal blowers are often used in air knife drying systems which are utilized in many industries, including the drying of: bottles, cans, electrical components, conveyor belts, packaged food, produce, medicine vials, and much more. The new Republic RB4000 offers the highest flow and pressure of the Republic Centrifugal Blower product line. With flow up to 4000 cfm and pressure/vacuum up to 175 inches of water, this powerful blower can utilize 40-75 horsepower motors to best fit the application’s need.

“It’s our attention to detail that sets Republic Blowers apart from the competition,” says Mr. Goff. “With all of the manufacturing done in Dallas, TX, we have complete control over the quality of work put into each step of the production process.”

Drawing on 50 years of blower and manufacturing experience, Republic Blower Systems are designed to outperform any blower on the market. Providing the ideal combination of powerful air movement, maximum control and easy equipment maintenance, the Republic Centrifugal Blower line was developed to provide a highly effective stream of air for air or gas handling requirements.

According to Mr. Goff, “Republic is always striving to meet the customer’s needs by producing quality products. We are excited that the RB4000 allows more opportunities to meet their demands.”

50 Years in Business: Manufacturing Alive and Well in Dallas, TX

Dallas, TX – In today’s gloomy economy, many businesses – big and small – are here today and gone tomorrow. With high unemployment, declining stocks, and a relatively weak dollar, companies have an uphill battle just to survive. In an effort to cut costs of production, most companies resort to outsourcing their manufacturing to cheaper third-world countries. Republic Sales & Manufacturing, one old-fashioned family manufacturing business, however, is not only surviving but is growing in today’s economy. Incorporated in 1962 as Southwestern Sheet Metal, the company quickly became one of the largest metal fabricators in North Texas. The company was the in-plant contractor for General Motors, Proctor & Gamble, among other large industrial operations. The company changed its name to Republic Sales and Manufacturing to better reflect its global capabilities. As the fourth generation acquired the small business in 1991, Republic took advantage of its now diverse education and experience to begin manufacturing its own brand of industrial air equipment. Republic continues to advance its roots in sheet metal by consistently adding new equipment, technology, and capabilities while also utilizing the sheet metal expertise to manufacture the Republic Blower Systems line of air knives, centrifugal blowers, regenerative blowers, and positive displacement blower packages. Because all manufacturing is in-house, Republic has complete control over product designs, materials, processes, and distribution channels. As Republic enters its fiftieth year in business, the company is not only surviving but is growing. In 2012 alone Republic has added 10 new jobs to the already existing 67 employees. On track for a record-breaking sales year, Republic Sales & Manufacturing proves that manufacturing is not only alive in the US but is thriving.

Republic Blower Systems Leads Industry in Technology, Capabilities and Innovation

Dallas, TX-Republic Blower Systems exemplifies the concept of a successful family business in today's competitive marketplace. Republic is constantly moving forward to embrace new technology, advance product offerings and adapt to changing market conditions. This family-owned manufacturing firm has found a dedicated fourth generation driven by President Zach Goff and the hunger for unlimited success.

"My background is a combination of manufacturing and distribution," said George Goff, owner. "Much of the present company has been developed by the fourth generation. Zach's involvement has unleashed a concept far more expansive in nature. We were a regional company until the fourth generation assumed leadership, now we are a strong global company with expansive international business."

Incorporated as Southwestern Sheet Metal in 1950, the company quickly grew to one of the largest metal fabricators in North Texas by intentionally adapting to changing market conditions. The company became the in-plant contractor for General Motors, Proctor & Gamble, and other large industrial operations. To reflect the new direction it was taking, the company changed its name to Republic Sales & Manufacturing in 1962, repositioning the products and services offered to take advantage of market demand.

In 1991, with the newest generation of family members leading the operation, Republic took on the distribution of air equipment and the building of package systems that could incorporate various industrial functions simultaneously. After a number of years of extensive repairs and distribution of all types of air equipment, Republic discovered a mechanical design for centrifugal blowers and air knife systems. Republic's design offered distinct advantages over existing systems within the industry.

Engineering Manager Ben Valdez teamed up with Zach in 1999 to design and engineer the Republic Centrifugal Blower. Valdez's engineering experience spans more than 23 years in the industry.
"Our ceramic hybrid ball bearings set Republic apart from others in the industry and compliment the blower's performance as they are more durable, precise, and heat resistant," Valdez said. "These bearings are lightweight and low friction, which results in less heat generation and the bearing service life is two to five times longer than steel bearings."

Republic Blower Systems extensive product line includes centrifugal and regenerative blowers, custom blower packages and enclosures, air knife systems, and numerous accessories.

"Most of our competitors' product lines consist of either only centrifugal blowers or only regenerative blowers," Zach Goff said. "We carry both centrifugal and regenerative blowers and are able to offer good price levels while meeting our customers' needs for both large and small applications."

Republic manufactures over 90 percent of the parts and components for Republic Blower Systems on-site. This sets Republic apart from the rest of the industry as it allows for the highest level of quality control.

"Since we produce most of the parts ourselves, we are able to control and ensure the best quality," Valdez added. "We don't have to depend on outside vendors to ensure the quality of our products."
Republic's engineering and production departments use the latest CNC machines and technology. Engineering utilizes Autodesk Inventor, a leading industry software company, to produce 3-D solid model files. This 3-D concept allows for a fast, more efficient design process with precise measurements and rich details.

"We are constantly analyzing our product line for further improvements and innovations," Valdez said. "We utilize our distributor network and large customers for evaluation and additional product suggestions. This allows us to consistently meet the ever-changing needs of our customers."

Republic is currently developing two new centrifugal blowers to add to their line, the RB3000 and the RB500. The RB3000 will generate roughly 3000 CFM and allow customers with larger applications to use one blower rather than two. The RB500 will generate roughly 500 CFM for those customers with smaller applications or limited space for the blower.

"Our internal machines and in-house sheet metal facility allow us to manufacture higher quality enclosures and accessories," Zach stated. "We also carry 2-inch, 3-inch, and 4-inch stainless steel air knives that are used in food applications or corrosive environments. None of our competitors carry stainless steel air knives." Zach added that Republic Blower Systems is constantly adding new accessories. A new all-aluminum blower silencer, designed and engineered onsite, will be available Nov. 15. This silencer will significantly reduce blower noise and provide additional blower protection. Republic also introduced the new Universal Blower Stand this fall. These new stands utilize a universal mounting base to fit any size motor.

"There are several different facets in the area of blowers and pumps that need silencing or customize enclosures and stands and Republic meets these specialized needs for our customers," George stated. "Within our distribution of Rietschle Vacuum Pumps and Roots Positive Displacement Blowers, we are constantly building custom packages."

Undaunted by market attention that focuses on the latest high-tech firm, family-owned businesses like Republic prove the future looks promising for traditional enterprises willing to embrace the next generation while drawing on the core values that made the company successful in the first place.

.. As a certified repair facility for quality manufacturers, Republic sold and repaired the best blowers on the market, but the best just wasn't good enough. Last year they unveiled the result of years in research and development -- the new Republic Air Knife Drying System.

This new drying system incorporates fundamental design improvements that increase drying efficiency and lengthen blower life. These features mean greater air velocity, more precise air or gas control and less downtime for manufacturing processes and mission-critical drying installations. As predicted, the market has embraced the new Republic Air Knife Drying System.

The primary failure in blowers has always been the bearings. Bearings receive the greatest stress. Because they are custom-made for specific types of applications, frequently bearings require the entire head assembly be shipped back to the manufacturer for repair or replacement. The Republic Centrifugal Blower uses a permanently greased, ceramic-hybrid bearing with a wear life that is 2 to 5 times that of standard centrifugal blower bearings. The ceramic bearings allow for higher operating temperatures, optimal shaft/impeller performance and reduced vibration levels. When such bearings do wear out, the user can quickly replace the parts because the Republic bearing housing assembly is designed for easy maintenance and part replacement.

Secondly, Republic found that a common failure in the field occurred because the seals around the bearing shaft would leak, allowing contaminants to enter the head assembly. Specially designed PTFE Tri-Lip seals now protect the precision shaft and bearing housing, which itself incorporates unique design features to extend part life and increase efficiency.

Once these major product improvements were made, Republic focused on the less obvious flaws that plague most drying systems. Common headaches such as excessive belt wear, pulley failures, weak structural components, and inefficient product testing before shipping were all analyzed and improved.

The Republic Air Knife Drying System includes such standard features as: a self-adjusting belt tensioner that precisely wraps the pulley assembly, a hard anodized blower pulley and a blower pulley made from wear-resistant stainless steel. The cast 356-T6 aluminum housing and a compact design mean a smaller footprint for low profile applications such as PC board washer/dryer units or the base of machine/part cleaners -- additional benefits that are pleasing users. Best of all, every Republic blower is 100% run-in and tested before shipment.

"Our goal was to develop the drying system we would want if we were responsible for drying bottles prior to labeling, or removing the rinse/cooling solutions from precision machined parts or critical electrical components. Drying systemsare so common in the manufacturing process that nearly every company depends on this process. With all of the advances in manufacturing technology, we felt it was time to leap beyond the irritants so common in drying systems today. Our customers deserve the time and effort we've put into this new system. Were proud to offer what we feel is the best air knife drying system on the market," said Zach Goff, president of Republic Sales & Manufacturing Company.

The new Republic Air Knife Drying System can be purchased from your local Republic Distributor, or call 1-800-847-0380 for more details.
